When George Bush sat in the oval office gas prices climbed to $3.00 a
gallon and the media was ready to bring criminal charges. The media
made false claims that Bush and Cheney were colluding with the oil
companies to raise prices. I will admit that they didn’t let the
speculators go unchallenged. What we did learn from the facts is that
when Bush lifted the drilling ban on our coasts, the price per barrel of
oil dropped $20 within three months.
Since the election of Barack Obama gas prices have doubled. The media
has yet to blame the president for any increase. The blame has been put
squarely on the shoulders of speculators and the turmoil in the Middle
East. No doubt the Middle Eastern turmoil is one of the factors for
higher oil and gas prices, but there is a greater cause, and that is the
drilling moratorium.
For many months after the BP oil disaster, Obama placed a moratorium
on new drilling. He also made it impossible even after lifting the
moratorium for drilling to once again begin. The Bureau of Land
Management is placing barriers all over country on new drilling. I have a
more detail article coming on this, but right now I have an idea for a
protest.
Since most Americans are unaware that Obama is the main cause for
skyrocketing gas prices, I thought we should remind them. I have decided
that each time I fill up my battered gas hog, I am going to leave a
post-it note on the gas pump thanking Barack Obama. Some of the things I
have in mind are simple, such as; “Thank you Obama,” or “Thank you for
this gas price, Obama.” If you decide to participate in this protest,
be sure to courteous with the notes. You lawyers out there, let us know
if there could be any legal ramifications to this effort.
